A devotee was a little kid of seven when she first started attending Bala Vihar classes. These classes were taken by none other than Gurudev himself. We don’t know how many people may be around to claim the privilege of being one of his tiny students.
The devotee tells us that all the children made it a point to be well ahead of time for the class, which was at 9 am every Sunday morning, for Gurudev himself was always there at 5 minute to nine. “Never”, she says, “did it ever happen that he came 5 minutes after nine. That is when we learnt our first lesson on the importance of time.
“He was also particular that we be seated in neat rows and that our books were in order. It was a time of learning for us and a time for fun too. Gurudev would also tell us stories. I particularly remember the Hanuman stories. His Hanuman came to life before our eyes and it was as though we could see Hanuman himself in all his majesty right before us!
“Today, so many years down, I can only feel most blessed and grateful for the sense of discipline that he gave us.” she concludes.
