History of the Chinmaya Vision Programme (CVP)
Swamini Vimalananda (CVP Director) recollects it was the Silver Jubilee of the Chinmaya Vidyalaya, R S Puram, Coimbatore when Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda asked her to guide the celebrations. She started thinking, ‘What is Gurudev’s vision behind starting the Vidyalaya? Are we really implementing it? Is the Vidyalaya a school with a difference?’
Gurudev’s vision was then penned down into a program and she presented it on the occasion of the Anniversary Celebration. It received a standing ovation, the blessings of Guruji, the approval and patronage of esteemed people.
Thereafter, she with a team of dedicated members worked hard for months concretizing the four aspects of CVP, writing and compiling a manual, and introducing it to all the Vidyalayas and Colleges; all in a year’s time!
CVP always seemed Gurudev’s will at work as it started with a bang, progressed at an unbelievable speed and was received whole-heartedly by thousands.
Teachers, parents, management, all responded with words such as, ‘need of the hour,’ ‘inspires the teacher in me,’ ‘real education,’ and ‘this is what Gurudev envisaged.’”
