Included in the beautiful Char Dham Yatra with Swami Abhedanandaji, pilgrims went to Uttarkashi, where the ancient Saumyakashi Vishwanath temple houses a Shivlinga that is said to be Svayambhu. This temple is of special significance in our Guru parampara; because Pujya Swami Tapovanji Maharaj and Pujya Gurudev visited there often and offered puja.
No pilgrimage to Uttarkashi can be complete without paying respects at the sacred Tapovan kutir, which Swamiji described as, “The Gomukh of Chinmaya Mission. Because from there came our Pujya Gurudev. A Mahatma like Tapovanji Maharaj alone can make a Mahatma like Pujya Gurudev.
Char Dham Yatra is often a difficult one, with many hurdles, due to which sometimes pilgrims have to turn back. But it is Pujya Gurudev’s pratap (glory) and His grace that this yatra was successful.
Devotees took home with them the immense and indescribable joy of having spent so much time with the Lord, in Swamiji’s most sacred presence.
Eternal thanks and heartfelt pranams to Swamiji who ushered everyone into the lap of the Lord and brought everyone back home safe and sound.
Swamiji’s enlightening words reverberate in everyone’s minds:
“Taranti anena iti teertham” – That by which man is saved and taken across the ocean of transmigration (birth & death) is Teertham (Pilgrimage).
