Chinmaya Vibhooti- The Objective

Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda when he was the Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, went to many ashrams of other institutions to find out “what is it that they do there?” Mostly, he found that they had a “community living”, where like-minded people and devotees of the Master live near each other, and continue with their daily lives, inculcating spiritual practices — it is a kind of harmonious living. At first, he thought that Chinmaya Mission should also have some such place. But on reflection, he realized that this is not what we needed.
Chinmaya Mission had evolved into a worldwide organization with multiple activities, and what it most needed was a large place where it could hold multiple national level conferences for its workers, as well as conferences for world workers, where at least 1,000 to 2,000 people could come together to interact and discuss with each other.

Hence, it became evident that such a place must be a vision and training centre. In fact, this would also be the best way to express our gratitude to Pujya Gurudev, who dedicated his life in showing us this Vision.
Guruji therefore summed up the objective of Chinmaya Vibhooti as three-fold: “In order to motivate people by showing them the Vision, and to inspire them to work for it in their daily lives, they must get Vision, Inspiration, and Training in Chinmaya Vibhooti.” Quite often, Guruji has referred to Chinmaya Vibhooti as a “VIP” centre. This is not because of its world-class facilities, but because, he says: “VIP stands for Vision, Inspiration, and Practice — all the essential elements needed for empowerment and training sevaks!”
Chinmaya Vibhooti has thus evolved as a vision centre to keep Pujya Gurudev’s Vedantic teachings and social service projects vibrant and glowing throughout the world.
“We want people to come here, to derive inspiration, get vision, get training, and then go back and spread this work by doing their best, by lighting up the places to which they go.” says Guruji.
