Artists of the Sankhya Dance Company, from Mumbai, performed
Trayyanta – a dance drama based on the ethos and philosophy of the
Upanishads. Vaibhav Arekar, the choreographer and lead dancer, presented a show that was aesthetically pleasing to the senses. He pointed to Trayyanta
as the confluence of the seeker, sought and the path. The evening was made
more special by the presence of Pujya Swami Swaroopananda. Swamiji
shared his thoughts on the depths and meditative subtleties of Indian
classical forms, pointing out that good musicians draw the attention to the
pauses between two notes and the dancer’s movements lead us from the
form to the Formless. At the conclusion of the program, Swamiji commended the performance and presented mementos to each artist.
