Empowering YOUth- Mistakes, Acceptance and Forgiveness
(A beautiful excerpt from Chinmaya Udghosh- our international monthly for the youth.)
To err is human, to forgive is divine.’ Being human itself means that we will make mistakes. Making mistakes is an integral part of growing. So, by attempting to always be right we are in contradiction with growth and evolution.
Being anxious or stressed about not making mistakes is, in fact, an invitation for mistakes. When we are stressed our abilities diminish, making us prone to errors. Also, often what you think is right may differ from what the other thinks is right. In such cases, how do you arrive at a conclusion about who is right?
This constant conflict will keep you anxious. The only way to rid ourselves of this anxiety is by accepting that mistakes are natural and learning from those mistakes are stepping stones to evolution. Instead of avoiding mistakes, let’s embrace them and learn from them.
The only thing that is unacceptable in our growth is to repeat a mistake. We must be aware of our patterns and try to correct them right at the start.
Let’s also express divinity by forgiving ourselves for the mistakes we make. Only when we truly forgive ourselves, can we let go and grow.
