The Silence that Speaks

Swamini Shivapriyananda now serving at Chinmaya Mission Toronto, Canada recalls an unforgettable experience with Gurudev that was rooted in Absolute Silence, “At one of the camps in the U.S., when I was taking care of the Bala Vihar programs, I hardly had a chance to meet Gurudev or attend lectures. The only session I could regularly attend was morning meditation.

The door needed to be open for him to enter the building, and I took the privilege of doing so. It became a very sacred routine. Just he and I, and the deep silence every morning. Day after day, not a word was spoken, only his all-penetrating look as he passed me. If I ever learned about silence that speaks, it was then, and only then.”
