Members of the faculty, staff, student fraternity and others gathered at the Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) campus on October 31 to commemorate the National Unity Day or the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observed on the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year was his 144th birth anniversary.
The function began with the vedic pledge “Sahana Vavatu…” which calls for us to work in unity. . Dr. Naga
raj Neerchal, VC CVV addressed the gathering. He said that a pledge of unity is apt way to start the celebration of the birthday of the man who united India. Dr. Soumya S, Registrar of CVV, and Dr Neerchal conducted an open quiz on the life and contributions of Sardar Patel. As in the words of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – “Manpower without Unity is not a strength unless it is harmonised and united properly then it becomes a spiritual power”
The celebrations included the screening of ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’, a classic video on unity and diversity, to bring forth the diversified population of the country united by a common goal – prosperity of the nation through exemplary and outstanding individual contributions to the society.
The event ended with a rendition of the National Anthem and an implicit pledge to uphold the unity of our nation.
