Onam Celebrations at Chinmaya International Foundation

Onam was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm at Adi Sankara Nilayam. Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, marks the incarnation of Maha Vishnu as Vamana and also the arrival of King Mahabali, who is great devotee of Maha Vishnu to visit his kingdom. Maha Vishnu took this avatara to remove his devotee Mahabali’s ego and to bless him. Onam is traditionally celebrated with traditional floral arrangements, dance and much more. This beautiful arrangement of petals on the ground is called Pookolam. CVV and CIF arranged a cultural programme like Thiruvathirakkali, Onappattu, Vanchipattu, Chendamelam in the morning and concluded with a tradition lunch called Onasadhya followed by some games like Tug of war and Kabaddi.
