A veteran and ardent devotee of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda recalls those days when he was just a college-going student, when he attended Gurudev’s Yajna on Bhaja Govindam,

“The first lecture I really understood was Bhaja Govindam. At the end of the lectures, Gurudev used to test all the devotees, sometimes even the public, with question papers. 

“Today you will write a test,” he would announce. And all of us took the test. This was to check if we were paying attention to what he was saying.

We were all very enthusiastic and were eager to see who would stand first. Will you believe it, Gurudev corrected every single paper. Most of us stood second or third and Gurudev mentioned our names from the stage.

I think there were about 1500 people. I don’t know how many took the test, but that many people were attending the morning classes.

He taught the basic text of Bhaja Govindam in such great detail.”
